The Insurance Internal Audit Group was founded over 40 years ago to provide its members with the opportunity to keep abreast of current events and expand their knowledge and skills in the field of Insurance Internal Auditing. It is a non-profit organization supported by practicing internal auditors in the insurance industry. Membership in the IIAG is limited to those people who are employees of a licensed insurance company or their affiliates. Attendance at any IIAG meeting is limited to those people who qualify for membership.
Meetings are scheduled for early May and October. The meetings are split into several different sessions that allow members to select an area of concentration. Choices typically include: Life Insurance, Property Casualty Insurance, Accident and Health Insurance, Reinsurance, Investments and Real Estate, Fraud and Information Technology. The agenda consists of questions submitted in advance by auditors attending the meeting. Questions are discussed by all participants. Open and frank discussion of real business problems, real behavior and appropriate ways to manage these is promoted. This is an opportunity to exchange audit ideas and techniques, learn about new products and develop consultative relationships with your associates.
Meetings are organized so that opportunities to network and make appropriate contacts are cultivated. Making useful contacts is probably the single most important benefit of attending.
Annual dues are $15 (US dollars), which keeps you on the mailing list for notice of meetings and gives you a means of readily contacting other members. The membership list is distributed to active members once each year.
